GEOG 5190: Advanced Quantitative Techniques

This graduate course focuses specifically on multivariate and spatial statistics. It deals with multivariate methods used widely by geographers and other scientists, including an introduction to elementary matrix algebra, multiple correlation and regression, factor analysis, cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling, and other words that if you use them can make you sound like you know what you are talking about (and hopefully you will).

We emphasize hands-on experience in the labs associated with the class. You should leave this course with knowledge, experience, and confidence in statistics, and an appreciation for how these analytical methods are applied to geographic issues.
