GEOG 1170: Culture, Environment and Society This course is an introduction to the influence of geography on human activities. The course focuses on presenting you with important facts to help you make you an informed citizen of our planet. However, facts are not enough when it comes to evaluating the kinds of complex issues raised above. This course also gives you opportunities to develop your ability to think. My aim in this course is to help you build on your capacity to critically evaluate a variety of viewpoints and information sources, some of which may well be in direct conflict with each other. In the end, this course is not intended to provide you with the answers you need to live your life, but to introduce you to skills and ways of thinking that will hopefully help you make good decisions as a responsible citizen of our planet.
