Summer I, 2003

May 31 - June 1.  9 a.m. to 12:00, class will meet with Dr. Williamson / Oppong for thorough orientation, including in-depth discussion of Social Change and Development, review of packing lists and medications, distribution of passports and visas, and finalizing of travel schedule.

June 7, Saturday,  Depart Airport. 3.25 pm. Lufthansa 439

June 8, Sunday, arrive Frankfurt, 8.10 am.

            Depart  10.45 am. Lufthansa 564  Arrive Accra, Ghana 4.05 pm.

June 9, Monday. Welcome and Orientation – Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)

·        Campus tour – GIMPA and University of Ghana, Legon

·        Accra Tour – High class residential area - East Legon, Dzorwulu, Labone, Kanda 

·        Low class residential area – Nima, Bukor (at least 2)

·        Tourism in Ghana - Labadi Pleasure Beach, La Palm Beach Hotel

June 10 Tuesday - Parliament House (observe parliamentary proceedings from public gallery)

·        PM  Center for Social Policy – Lecture, Dr. Nana Apt

June 11, Wednesday

June 12, Thursday

June 17, Tuesday  Leave Kumasi for Asankrangwa (Melody Hotel)

June 18. Wednesday Life in rural Ghana – Asankrangwa

-         Meet with District Chief Executive

June 19. Thursday, Free day

June 20. Friday. Depart to Sekondi – Takoradi

            Meeting with Western Regional Minister – John Aidoo

June 21. Saturday Travel to Cape Coast
