Welcome to the Canada-US Corporate Geography 2007 conference, planned for February 23-24, 2007 on the campus of the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas (suburban Dallas-Fort Worth). The conference is intended to be a forum for the exchange of research ideas and results that relate to the location decisions made by business, and how those location decisions impact regions and societies more broadly. The conference also provides a venue for interaction with businesses that make use of geographic methods, either in consulting in support of the planning of other businesses, or as part of their own internal planning.
We invite paper and poster presentations from a wide range of research fields related to business location and regional economic development, including corporate location studies related to:
Retailing and consumer services
Finance
Advanced business services
Manufacturing
Agriculture
Energy and Resources
As well, the conference encourages participation from researchers examining cross-cutting issues related to business location, including research related to cross-border issues in North America, transportation and communications development, and location and change in high-level administration (corporate headquarters and related command and control activities). Although the conference is focused on work relating to North America, submissions relating to business location in any region worldwide are welcomed.
A field trip covering key corporate locations around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex will provide further opportunities for learning and discussion among conference participants.
Key dates to remember include:
December 1, 2006: submission of proposed oral presentation and poster titles with author names and affiliations
January 10, 2007: submission of completed conference registration, including abstracts and payment of conference fees (the registration form is now available for download)
February 23-24, 2007: dates of the conference in Denton, Texas
